A sign of deserts to come

Despite the cold and snow since before Christmas my rhubard is already putting in an appearance.  Hopefully it will do better than last year when I only got enough stalks for one crumble.  It is still a young plant and it got moved at the end of the previous year so I suspect it was sulking.

Fingers crossed there will be more than one crumble this year

  1. What a hopeful sign! My rhubarb is always at its peak of ripeness when I am too busy moving things around and planting to cook with it. Every once in awhile, I’ll get one dessert made with it, but some years, I pick it, and it spoils in the refrigerator. I always think I’ll do better with it next year. I am planning on moving plants around more this year, and not buying as many, since we’re not planning on digging any new planting areas this year.
