I have had lovely pink opium poppy growing each year for 50 years! My last cottage garden I had hundreds in a special patch. I only have a few random ones here but have given lots of seeds away!
What lovely plump buds just waiting to open. But I don’ t think that they are Opium poppies Helen, they have the lovely hairy leaves of Papaver orientale. Papaver somniferum leaves are glaucous.

Arh thank you Chloris – I thought that was wrong but am so busy this week forgot to check – will change header
great shot. My poppies are not far behind yours which is surprising. I love the fuzzy stages of the leaves and buds.
Look forward to a photo when they open
Hi Kim
Took photo at garden visited so am afraid there won’t be a follow up
Lovely photo! So much promise in those buds.
I love to watch them swelling and wait for that first hint of colour – although the same is true of any bud, I suppose!
