Winter in the garden …..or is it Spring? Today was one of those days when the seasons seemed to change within minutes.  One minute a beautiful blue sky with sunshine, the next racing clouds heavy with the threat of winter.  For someone who doesn’t see their garden during the week at this time of year as it is dark when I leave in the morning and get home at night this sort… Read More

Long term readers will know that I have been hosting a meme at the end of each month, unsurprisingly called the End of Month View (or EOMV), for some time.  I was surprised to discover that, apart for some months last year when I took a break from blogging and Steve hosted the meme, I will have been hosting it for 9 years this March.  I started the meme to follow progress… Read More

The first Garden Bloggers Bloom Day of the year sees a interesting selection of plants in flower, albeit a small choice selection. There are numerous buds a plenty – Hellebores, Eranthis, Snowdrops, Iris reticulata and Magnolia – but as with many a garden visit they will probably look lovely next week. I think it is a good demonstration of how a winter garden doesn’t have to be borrowing or rely on coloured stems; which I’m not that keen on. The contents are a random selection of evergreen foliage including but not limited to: Prostrate rosemary Choisya ‘Sundance’… Read More

At this time of year any time snatched in the garden is a welcomed treat.  Here in Malvern it has been mild but also very damp with heavy rain on Friday and rain again overnight on Saturday and most of this afternoon. I have a lot of tidying to do and I am prioritising those parts of the garden where the bulbs will be emerging over the next month or so.  I… Read More

As I am hopeless at sticking to things I will not start this post by saying that I intend to participate in Cathy’s weekly In A Vase On Monday meme. Instead I will aspire to take part more than I did last year, which shouldn’t be too hard to achieve! January is really not the ideal time to try and write a post about a vase full of things from your garden… Read More

It’s the end of January and so time for a new view for the End of Month View meme.  In a bid to make myself really focus on the front garden I have decided to air my dirty linen in public so to speak and have this as the focus for the meme this year.  Any one who has read this blog for some years will recall that the front garden was… Read More
