Talk about closing the stable door…

As ever I am closing th stable door after the horse has bolted.  My only excuse  is that for the last week or so I have been going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark and the weekends have been so busy with shopping, Christmas meals and generally  trying to finish the kitchen that Ihaven’t really engaged  with the garden.

I have been wondering for some  time whether I should do something to try and protect the plants I have in the nursery bed.  It has been a real dilemma.  The plants are young hardy perennials which I have grown from  seed but as I intend to see quite a few of them at plant sales I would like to get them through the winter particularly the  Dieramas which have taken me 3 years to get to any sort of size.  In the end I  decided to get a small poly tunnel well its really a giant  cloche.  It arrived this week but I haven’t been able to get into the garden until today by which time all the pots were frozen.  Oh well I have covered them up and hope that  it  will help defrost and I will get most  of them through the winter.

Writing this on my new laptop – Dell Inspiron which I have treated myself to for Christmas – the keyboard is very sensitive so thats my excuse  for the spelling  mistakes.  It has Windows  7 which so far I  am quite impressed with.

Listening to Gabrielle  in   rare moment of  quite before I have to create a culinary masterpiece for the new man in my life, first time he will have been to my place or risked my cooking – very nervous!!!!!!
